This led Bernie and a few of his fellow firemen to start producing his beef jerky from a USDA processing plant located in central Illinois. We use only the finest USDA top-quality eye of the round beef for all of our jerky snacks. This ensures that our products are of the highest quality, 97% fat free, low in carbohydrates and high in protein.
What separates Firehouse Jerky from the mulititude of other beef jerkys is our process and natural old-style flavor. Our beef jerky is thinly sliced and slowly cooked to crisp perfection. Firehouse Jerky emulates the old-time formula of hang-drying beef, which is low in water content and high in natural flavor. You won't experience that over-processed, "tough to chew" feeling that most commercially produced jerkys offer. Another great benefit of having less water weight than the conventional jerkys is that you get a lot more jerky per package and a more intense beef flavor.
